Facility Renewal, 2026 AGM Update

Published May 27, 2026

Church!

I'm sure you're enjoying the spring-like weather (finally!). I wanted to give you all an update on what's happening behind the scenes at Richview.

Annual General Meeting

This past Sunday we held our Annual General Meeting where we cover 2025's finances, hear reports from the various leadership boards, and give the membership opportunity to ask questions and dialogue around the administrative aspects of the church. We took the time to thank our staff, elders, and deacons, who each provide so much help to our church family in their various roles. I hope you get the chance to review the 2025 Annual Report, which you can find in the e-bulletin!

If you want to have a voice of influence in our church, or you are interested in becoming part of the leadership of Richview, your next step is membership! Please go to RichviewChurch.com/membership for more info.

New Elders

Our elder team is growing! Barth Netterfield and John Adedapo are now added to our existing elders, Joe Tullo, Jonathan Clarke, Phil Maruncic, and Olushola Tanimola. We're thankful for these qualified men as they lead and shepherd the church at large. You can reach out to the elders board at elders@richview.org.

Facility Renewal Update

Parking Lot

We need certain permissions from the City in order to go forward with a parking lot expansion. Later this month we will have a hearing with the City, as the first hearing was deferred. We believe that Richview Church will be better equipped to enrich the lives of those in our community and reach those who are seeking Christ by improving our parking situation. I have had several conversations with understandably concerned neighbours. Yes, there are trade-offs we are weighing, but on balance, we believe these trade-offs are well worth it to pursue our mission of joyfully leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus. Please pray that God would give us favour with the City and with our neighbours.

Facility Renewal

After consulting various contracting firms and evaluating their bids, we believe we have a clear front-runner in the contractor we should partner with. That's great news! We've also learned that the Renewal Plan we provided to the membership during last year's meeting will cost 25% more than expected. (Other contractor bids had an even greater increase.) Therefore, leadership is now discussing how to address the gap between what we are prepared to spend and the cost of the changes. This will almost definitely mean that we will be reducing the scope of the Facility Renewal. We are working on a new plan that would segment off those changes that are urgently required for effective ministry, and those that we can defer to a later time. Trust me, I still want to see the entire project done! But we've been given this new opportunity to trust God and wait on His timing. We are asking you to pray for wisdom, to provide feedback, and even to be prepared to give above and beyond your regular offerings, so that we can see this work done.

As we wrestle through these things with God in prayer and discussion, let's be reminded that the work of the Kingdom is not being put on hold until this project gets finished. No! Each and every day is a new opportunity to make much of God and to draw people closer to Him. So let's not sit back. Let's joyfully get engaged in our collective mission today.
